Astigmatism
A patient with astigmatism has distorted sight due to a difference between corneal curvatures. Therefore, images that must reach the retina focus on different points.
It is very common to find astigmatism accompanied by hyperopia or myopia. Refractive surgery can correct astigmatism in a fast, efficient and safe manner.
Currently, there are several options to correct astigmatism. This refractive deficiency can be treated through eyeglasses, contact lens or laser surgery. Laser surgeries that can effectively correct astigmatism with excellent results, freeing patients from the use of eyeglasses or contacts are: LASIK, Conductive Keratoplasty (CK) and Photorefractive Keratectomy (PRK, or LASEK).
