Myopia
A person with myopia sees well up close, but their farsightedness is blurry. In this refractive effect, images focus in front of the retina, due mostly to an increase in the axial length of the eye. It is a refractive error in which the cornea is too long.
Currently, myopia can be corrected through various methods, ranging from eyeglasses, contact lenses or laser surgery. The surgical procedures that are utilized with excellent results in correcting myopia and freeing patients from wearing eyeglasses or contacts are LASIK, PRK (photorefractive keratectomy) and LASEK.
